Wonderprince Explores a 'Path Through the Trees' in Surreal Debut EP

Self-produced London artist Wonderprince has just dropped his debut EP, Path Through the Trees. This psychedelic pop EP is full of hypnotic layers, smooth vocals, and laid-back vibes. Reflecting on his inspiration for the EP, Wonderprince shares, “These songs were inspired by the worlds that we escape into through our dreams, and the ways we find ourselves through them.”

This sentiment is woven throughout Path Through the Trees as Wonderprince experiments with alternating tempos and cosmic synths sounds. It's the ideal style of music to turn to and drift away. The slow melodic breakdowns feel dreamlike and mirror the emotions of the stories being told. Path Through the Trees takes us on a personal journey with tracks steeped in deep thought and revelry.

The title track might be the best track on the EP, if only because it feels the most honest. The haunting lyrics echoing “The more I think of you the less I know what's true,” are reminiscent of a relationship that caused you to question everything you ever knew. Was it so good that every subsequent relationship is measured against it? Did it end so badly that the good times don’t feel real? There is aching wisdom to glean from the track, but inherently, “Path through the Trees” is begging us to live in the moment and “try to make the good things last.”

Path Through the Trees is a collection of wholly authentic songs. The message is, the more we learn from our experiences, the more we can live out the truest version of ourselves. Wonderprince isn’t writing about regrets. These are stories from his life, and the heart behind these songs is one of reflection and realization. It feels like these tracks were birthed out of personal growth, and we’re just happy Wonderprince chose to share his journey with us.
