Unusual Demont Returns With “NIGHTTIME,” Announces 'Chrysalis' Project


Though perhaps better known by its government name of “October,” this time of year is a crucial area of liminal space. You might not know it, but right now you are caught in between autumn and cuffing season, and the latter is approaching at speeds previously unknown to man. Looking to shed a few pounds to attract that special someone before it’s too late? Here’s a tip: be an Unusual Demont fan.

Second to Frank Ocean fans (how are y’all holding up?), Unusual Demont fans are one of the least-fed demographics in pop culture. After Unusual Demont’s 2022 was spent playing shows, festivals, dropping singles, etc., you would think that in 2023 we’d be fed the same way, right? Sadly you’d be wrong. The drought has been unreal, and the fans are foaming at the mouth for new music from the Wisconsin-born king. However, everything has changed. Dinner is served in the form of the brand new single “NIGHTTIME,” released ahead of Demont’s sophomore project Chrysalis.

Do you remember the first time your mother held you in her arms? That feeling of security, serenity, and tranquility pales in comparison to the opening moments of “NIGHTTIME.” Over delicate guitar melodies and an ever-transforming mix, Unusual Demont makes a powerful reintroduction, reflecting on the memory of riding his bike over to his love interest. Seconds later, smooth R&B stylistics and drum 'n' bass percussion meet in sacred harmony to form a track that is nothing if not a strong contender for your weekly rotation.

On the creation of “NIGHTTIME,” Demont reveals “[this] is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever made. With my life becoming the most chaotic it’s ever been during the creation of the project it’s on. I found myself, at times, writing about the more calm experiences I’d had in life, to keep my music a safe space for me... This is my first song in a very long time, and I’m excited to say that it’s also a new sound that I’ve never done before.”
