16-year-old Liverpool artist re6ce may have just started making music a year ago, but don’t let his young age or that fact fool you, he very much is up next. Inspired in equal parts by the online artists that inspired his ever-evolving scene like ericdoa and the emotional-laden drum & bass of PinkPantheress, re6ce’s budding discography tells a story of musical evolution unfolding before our very eyes. And with his latest single, “come here,†he unveils a chapter that is nigh impossible to put down.
“come here†sees re6ce linking with fellow online wunderkind nimstarr for a hypnotic concoction of mixed emotions and infectious, easygoing production. The song, which has become a fan-favorite after being teased on Twitter and making an appearance on re6ce’s set list during his opening set for glaive at the 02 Academy earlier this summer, leverages both the rising star’s talents to their utmost.
The genre-eschewing production of “come here†presents a more relaxed and nuanced take on what would have likely been attributed to hyperpop just a year or two ago, instead finding its unshakeable fervor in wistful, sun-dipped riffs and a sauntering backing beat.
