Murdo Mitchell's  "Ghosts" Is Nothing Short of Haunting

The term haunting often has a negative connotation attached to it. A regrettable decision? A bad memory? A missed opportunity? All these things tend to stick around in our heads and torment us. Yet, when it comes to music, a haunting song tells a completely different story, one where dark and brooding makes for beautiful music that lingers in our minds.

Murdo Mitchell combines several thematic elements in his new single "Ghosts" to craft an altogether haunting song. "Ghosts" starts with an entrancing guitar and swelling strings and then gradually crescendos into a frenetic and impassioned chorus. There is something special about Mitchell's voice and his ability to transition effortlessly from singing soft, smooth, and hushed melodies to full, unreserved, and rousing ones.

When talking about "Ghosts" Mitchell shares, "Ghosts is about the vulnerability you open yourself up to in a relationship and the trust that both parties must have in order for it to function. But it's probably more to the point of what happens when that trust breaks down."

Relationships by nature are emotionally-charged experiences, and it's only appropriate that a song like "Ghosts" manifests the same kind of energy when telling the story of a tumultuous one. It's an incredible feeling to experience even a fraction of the emotions attached to "Ghosts," and that is the mark of a truly talented artist.
