ilo ilo translates to many things–Chinese slang for "parents aren't home," a synonym for "come thru," a sentiment meant to express one's desire for another, and one of the most captivating new acts in electronic music. Okay, I made that last one up, but it may as well be true. Not much is known about the mysterious duo, besides the fact that they led Louis the Child on a scavenger hunt through New York to premiere their single "come over," but their music speaks for itself.

Aptly enough, "come thru" follows ilo ilo's previous single "come over," and sees them reaching for a sound that is more exhilarating than ever. The stunning new track strikes a remarkable balance between ilo ilo's left-of-center pop leanings and an impulse to launch into bouts of liberating bass-heavy production. Accentuated by electric guitars and modulated vocals, it is the sort of song that sways between the rush of a festival's main stage and blissful moments of electro-pop reflection. And as if dropping one of the finest electronic tracks of 2019 thus far wasn't already enough, ilo ilo also released an accompanying visual that will leave you planning your next great escape.

Directed by Donslens, who has worked on music videos for the likes of Halsey, Porter Robsinon, and Alison Wonderland, the accompanying visual for "come thru" is the very definition of an aesthetically pleasing last-minute road trip. Playing with equal parts glitchy and hypnotic effects, the venture that is "come thru" is intoxicating. Set to spend much of 2019 on the road, playing festivals and featuring as the special guest on Manila Killa's upcoming North American tour, ilo ilo is setting the stage for one hell of a breakout year, one spellbinding single at a time.
