Empiricism isn’t in vogue like it once was, maybe the optimism of our senses has decayed adjacent to the technology we orient our lives around. More likely we share the eloquent, hard-earned observation that Gabrielle Current discovers on her sultry new single “If I Fall."

What observation is this, exactly? The fact that the senses informing our emotions, warming our hearts, and lightening our breath often cheat us of perception. That only by losing intimacy and immediacy, by having a love lost, do we gain an appreciation for the relationship. Gabrielle explains, "With this song I wanted to capture how loss gave me a new understanding of myself as well as the habits and patterns we choose.”

Not an easy reflection to nuance into a beautiful song, but Gabrielle has no issues stitching her immersive lyrics into the jazzy backdrop, with her soft, almost withholding, vocals counseling us calmly as she croons “the less I saw, the more I knew about you."

Gabrielle's sound is so deceptively classic and near timeless. The encompassing effect is a form of sensory overload as one struggles to guess its origin, exacerbated by the deft production which makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into a bespoke live setting. Likely the origin of this fluid mix of wisdom and talent is her grounding in community, "I'm proud of my Asian-American heritage and I've learned through my Filipino culture how important our values of family and togetherness are… I hope to connect with as many people as possible through the songs I share by not just being one thing.”

For those unaware, Gabrielle’s calm confidence on “If I Fall” extends into her short catalog but stay keen on her nouveaux sound as she has a full EP dropping May 27. However dull or attuned your senses are, Gabrielle Current will help you fall into your feels.
