Donât let the miniature nature of flowerovlove fool you: she may be soft, but sheâs coming into her own quite fiercely.
The 18-year-old British indie pop artist received a mass industry welcome with her 2022 EP A Mosh Pit In The Clouds, earning millions of streams and surreal fashion opportunities like walking Paris Fashion Week and collaborating with brands like Gucci and Swarovski. Immersive and deliciously colorful, her indie pop music builds into a wonderland so addictive that you canât help but want to vacation there forever.
âNext Best Exit,â co-written alongside Gaetan Judd, a force who has collaborated with artists like J His and Drake, is her latest offering and a thunderous follow-up. The song serves as a testament to the self-awareness necessary to notice when youâve found yourself amongst an energy vampire. The desire to want better for yourself is not always innate, but rather earned, and flowerovlove is proclaiming just that.
The track follows âLove Youâ and âCoffee Shop,â both 2023 singles that together are building out the bones of her next era. Sheâs at the very specific age where every month is a new skin shed, and weâre gradually getting to know just who exactly flowerovlove is deciding to be now.
What makes this particular single stand out is that itâs âone of my first songs with storytelling and not just written for fun,â the songstress shares. In her own words, "'Next Best Exit' is a song based on the themes of toxic people, negative energy surrounding you, and you being in desperate need to find an exit out of the nearest door, fire escape, air vent, etc.â she explains. âDoing anything to escape and just be around the energy you deserve.â
Itâs evident flowerovlove is taking her own advice, basking in a flourishing career that was built on the foundation of knowing her potential and only saying yes to whatever honors it. She couldnât have ever been anything other than herself, and sheâs demanding her due flowers for it.
