ericdoa Got Us Crying on the Dancefloor in "dancinwithsomebawdy"
All-around multi-hyphenate ericdoa sets himself free on his latest single, "dancinwitsomebawdy." Teaming up with fellow producers Zetra and camoufly, the euphoric track oozes with classic elements of the artist, with flourishing, electrifying soundscapes and production serving as the sonic backdrop of a love story gone wrong and secrets coming to light.
"dancinwitsomebawdy" opens with a collection of twinkling synths and glitchy vocal effects before Eric's dynamic vocals enter the fray and detail the realization that his loved one might be doing something behind his back. He croons, "Got your message, said, 'We're leaving right now' / You was hopin' that I wouldn't find out" as the instrumentation around him begins to build to a boiling point. He further reveals that he didn't know for sure but had doubts about his partner's activities, ultimately leading to the endorphin-releasing chorus where he declares she's "Dancin' with somebody, please never remind me" and describes her as "So pretty, but she conniving, tired, wasting my time."
In a press statement, ericdoa shared that after releasing his label debut, he decided to go back to his roots of experimentation and sharing songs that made him want to pursue music in the first place. "I missed a lot of childhood being in meetings, obsessing over trying to be this artist that I wanted to become," he shares. "I really lost the freeing, adolescent feeling of just creating whatever I wanted."
"dancinwitsomebawdy" is set to be featured on his forthcoming project, DOA. The record, which will be released sometime next year and followed by a tour, encapsulates ericdoa's feelings and a return to form, reminding us of the talent that made him so beloved during his rise and expanding how we perceive and understand him as an artist and person.
