Beharie Welcomes Listless Summer Days With the Idyllic "Simple Mistake"

Norwegian indie soul at its finest. Beharie is here to soothe the soul with his delicious new single “Simple Mistake,” which is coated in syrupy honey-toned vocals, hypnotic harmonies, and groove-inducing melodies. Despite singing about the downfall of a relationship, the artist somehow manages to bring an upbeat, feel-good atmosphere to the track, glazing every note and word with a calming ambiance.

Oozing a carefree attitude, Beharie takes an effortless approach to his music, with his laid-back vocal delivery making you feel that everything is going to be ok. Quite an impressive knack for someone who admits to always thinking deeply about life. Beharie shares, “I use a lot of time and energy on being existential and thinking about who I am, what I am doing with my life, what’s my purpose. And how life is full of harmony and disharmony.”

Drawing comparisons from the likes of Frank Ocean, Moses Sumney, Fleet Foxes, and Leon Bridges, Beharie’s music shimmers with a similar essence of soul, earthiness, and realism. Having been born into a family of musicians, there is no surprise Beharie’s musicality comes so naturally. His time spent studying contemporary music at university further solidified his passion, with the artist finding the courage to play with different elements and genres and find his true sound. He explains, “The school felt like a safe space to experiment and just write a lot of music. And that journey took me towards the elements, influences and compositions you can find in my music today.”

"Simple Mistake" appears on Beharie's latest EP, Beharie, The Third, which you can listen to in full here.
