100 gecs Return With 'Snake Eyes' EP, announce new album '10,000 gecs'

Nobody loves to starve their fans like 100 gecs. Since the release of their last project 1000 gecs and The Tree of Clues, a remixed version of their 2019 debut 1000 gecs, fans have been treated to only a small handful of singles and collaborations. Though absence often causes artists to fade into obscurity, the silence has only amplified 100 gecs’ power. Shrouded in mythos, fans have been begging the duo to return and last week our wish was granted.
Just in time for the holidays, 100 gecs make their long-awaited return with the announcement of their sophomore album 10,000 gecs, set to release March 17, 2023, and graces fans with a three-track EP in the process. Set for release this March, Snake Eyes is our newest taste of what Dylan Brady and Laura Les have been cooking up behind the scenes over the past two-and-a-half years. What Snake Eyes may lack in length, it more than makes up for in versatility, as the EP showcases a surprisingly wide range of styles and sounds over its barely six-minute runtime.
Snake Eyes opener "Hey Big Man” is an intense and abrasive reintroduction to one of modern music’s most forward-thinking acts. Over an insurmountable wall of distorted guitar melodies and explosive percussion, 100 gecs offers fans thought-provoking lyrics about hugging cacti and partaking in a human centipede. The Skrillex-assisted “Torture Me,” however, sees the duo balancing their iconoclastic artistry with something more dancy and approachable—still pushing the envelope of course but doing so in a way that indicates that Brady and Les still have some tricks up their sleeve. The closing track “Runaway” is 100 gecs perfected, a nigh-flawless synthesis of vulnerable sincerity and musical absurdism. The result is a hard-hitting banger that is more than worth the wait and is likely to make fans even more ravenous for new music.
