Polo & Pan's 'Gengis' Is a Tour Through the World's Nightclubs

Prolific electro-pop duo Polo & Pan don't have any qualms about testing the boundaries. Just check out their latest EP, Gengis, if you need any sort of proof. In a gutsy move, the release is centered around a single track of the same name, featuring four distinct versions of the song: a seven-minute monster, the duo's own edit, and remixes from Asa Moto and Red Axes.

Gengis is Polo & Pan's first original release since their 2017 album Caravelle and marks a contextual change from their previous work. The duo, who joined forces after often crossing paths when spinning decks at famous Parisian club Le Baron, have historically produced joyful rave bangers drawing on French melodies. On Gengis, the electronic wizards explore psychedelic elements and tribal-inspired rhythms that guide the listener on a sonic pilgrimage to Club Mecca. In addition to the duo's own two cuts of the track, the project features Belgian duo Asa Moto's funk-injected remix that gives the unusual track a deliciously retro feel in tandem with underground Israeli DJs Red Axes' psilocybin-soaked twist that feels like a heat-induced hallucination.

The two-year gap between Polo & Pans original releases can be attributed to the duo's relentless touring schedule, featuring two massive appearances at Coachella and shows across Europe, North America, and the Middle East. The duo is set to return to the US this fall, and you can grab tickets to one of the dates below, but in the meantime, check out the various versions of "Gengis" below:
