“Look To Him†is no solo feat, a collaborative effort with St Francis Hotel, the mastermind behind production for the likes of Portugal, The Man and Michael Kiwanuka. It’d be shapeless without the horns of Hanna Mbuya and Callum Connell, among many more talented instrumentalists, birthing a track that feels timeless.
But though its trance-like rhythm is captivating, the meat of this song lies truly in its lyrics. She invites us in for a moment of poignant reflection, asking ourselves which limitations are self-imposed and where we live in false ownership. Admiring this song is like absorbing any work of art, knowing what you interpret will taste different than what someone else does, but that’s the whole point.
