Quirky and unshakably confident, itâs rare to see someone early in the discovery of themselves be so sure of their sound and truth. Proving once again that sheâs popâs most promising, flowerofloveâs latest EP, A Mosh Pit in the Clouds, is a testament to being heart-led and living in the fullness of your capabilities.
While others chase joy, 17-year-old Joyce Cissie, more popularly known as flowerovlove, embodies it. Her music is a maladaptive daydream, urging you to escape from the mundane and immerse in wonder. The five-track EP is an iridescent ride through her psyche, riddled with love, dance, and nostalgia.
Produced alongside brother Wilfred Cisse, A Mosh Pit in the Clouds features singles that have already captured our attention, like âGet With Youâ and âI Gotta I Gotta,â while introducing us to new tracks, like the biting âAll The Sameâ and heartfelt sonnet âGone.â Taken altogether, this EP tells a story of embracing life and letting it be lived through you.
flowerovlove is a musical nymph who canât help but make something warm and bubblyâher expression is just an extension of her. Though flowerovloveâs creative maturity far surpasses her time on earth, the love affair with life and vibrant sense of youth that permeates from her music could never be feigned by someone tainted by age. A Mosh Pit in the Clouds could easily score any coming-of-age film because it perfectly encapsulates what it means to look at your own life through a cinematic lensâto meet challenges with curiosity and platform shoes, and to know that as overwhelming as it gets, you can always find a way, a friend, or laugh through the ick with.
Sheâs cut from the same nebula as artists like Janelle Monáe, who dare to be themselves and cultivate a following not just from their undeniable talent but the magnetism bred from their authenticity. But whatâs most remarkable is that when the South London-based songstress isnât performing for packed crowds, styling looks, conceptualizing her dynamic visuals, or covering magazines in Gucci, sheâs just a regular student with regular insecurities, friendships, and dreams that all inform her not-so-regular day job. But as âHannah Montanaâ would suggest, thereâs nothing quite like the best of the worlds.
