binki's 'Antennae' Is a Viciously Contagious Bout of Euphoria

Gearing up for his North American summer tour, binki proves more uninhibited than ever in his sophomore EP Antennae and the joy is viciously contagious.

The alt-pop melody “Freakin” opens up the six-track project, setting a tone of euphoria and youth-drenched debauchery. Though he identified as an actor before a musician, binki is no cosplay; he’s wholeheartedly as turbulent and explorative as he seems. Antennae feels much like a cohesive portfolio of who he is as an artist right now, at full mercy to curiosity and unbothered by who his erraticism isolates. Upon its release, the Pennsylvania-bred artist shared, “I put my guts out on the table with this one. Tears were shed. Blood was bled. I was on a wild ride these past two years. I feel so lucky I get to do this.”

The EP features “Rocket Ship” and “Hotel Window,” previously released singles that garnered much attention and anticipation, leaving fans a bit weary from still not yet getting an LP from the artist in bloom. Luckily, the EP’s three brand-new tracks are enough to chew on in the meantime. “Holy Moly,” featuring a deliciously paired hook from Ernest Rareberrg, is an experiment gone right. It’s everywhere and all at once, impossible not to move to. Fans have also seemed to gravitate towards the love song “Origami,” softening binki as he bends to desire.

Antennae closes with “Doomsday,” where we meet an exasperated binki vacillating between disdain and surrender. It’s a perfect destination for the project, leaving us only to wonder where he’ll take us next.
