This Is No April Fool's. Alexander 23 Has Finally Released  "Crash"

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Alexander 23 is back with another insanely catchy single, “Crash.” The anthemic breakup single with jangly guitars and relatable lyrics acts as an unfiltered parting shot at an ex. Between his producer credits, electric live performances, growing body of solo work, Alexander 23 is cementing their destiny as a pop force to be reckoned with in 2022 and to come.

According to the artist, “‘Crash’ is about missing someone you were in a relationship with, but not missing who you both became within that relationship.” The single opens with arpeggiated guitar and whisper-sung vocals before slowly blooming into a passionate pop-rock track. “I miss you / But I don’t miss us,” Alexander sings in the sharp chorus. “Cause apart we’re great / But together we suck.” His newfound resolve is driven home by fierce drums, which highlight the defiance at the song’s heart.

Teased for what felt like far too long, "Crash" follows the success of “Hate Me If It Helps,” which earned wide acclaim in February after a viral moment catapulted it into mainstream ears. This new release is the latest sneak peek into Alexander’s forthcoming full-length debut, which he has been working on with producer Dan Nigro. “It’s as honest as I’ve ever been, both lyrically and sonically,” Alexander tells Rolling Stone about the project. “I’ve poured everything I have into making this over the past year, and I hope people can find some answers they’ve been looking for in it.”

Alexander 23 is currently getting ready for a whirlwind spring. First, the Illinois native is up for his first Grammy Award for co-producing Olivia Rodrigo’s pop-punk smash “good 4 u.” Then, in May, he will be rejoining John Mayer on rescheduled US dates for the singer and guitarist's Sob Rock Tour 2022 before heading to the UK and Ireland for shows supporting pop-upstart Tate McRae.
